Over 15,000 people visited the 7th International R&D Project Market, which Bartın University (BARU) has made a tradition since 2017 and expanded to a global scale for the first time this year.
The excitement of the region's longest-running science and technology festival continued with events held over two days at Bartın University (BARÜ) Kutlubey Campus. At the festival, which sees increased interest and participation every year, young researchers showcased their projects under the slogan 'I have an idea too.' At the same time, students succeeded in attracting visitors' attention with interactive and unique stands. The events, held simultaneously in various halls and floors throughout the day on November 7-8, were visited by over 15,000 people.
Leading Companies and Experts Met with Visitors
Prominent figures from the technology orld also participated in the 7th International R&D Project Market at BARÜ. Industry experts shared their insights on innovation, entrepreneurship, collaboration, and future visions through technical presentations to the participants. Representatives from sponsors such as Sanko-Çimko, HAVELSAN, ROKETSAN, TÜRKSAT, and Fibrobeton hosted booths at the event. Additionally, the Turkey Technology Team Foundation (T3 Foundation) engaged with visitors at their booth, aiming to involve young people in the development processes of technological products.
Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iran, Kazakhstan, Colombia…
Breaking national boundaries in the fields of science and technology, BARÜ received project applications not only from Turkey but also from Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iran, Kazakhstan, Colombia, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, and Uzbekistan for this year’s internationally scaled R&D Project Market. Ideas under 19 main themes were showcased for evaluation, with contributions from 47 universities, 30 high schools, and 10 institutions and R&D centers from 35 different provinces across Turkey.
The Closing and Award Ceremony Featured Proud Moments
The closing presentation of the event was delivered by Prof. Dr. Mahmut Faruk Akşit, General Manager of TUSAŞ Engine Industries (TEI). The 7th International R&D Project Market Award Ceremony took place with the participation of the Minister of Justice, Yılmaz Tunç. Awards and grants were presented to the best ideas, with Minister Tunç, Bartın Governor Dr. Nurtaç Arslan, and BARÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Orhan Uzun handing them to the winners.
In the General category, the first-place prize was awarded to Dr. Mustafa Şanverdi and his project team for their work titled “METATIP.” In the High School category, the jury awarded the first-place prize to the project titled “RETILIFE” by Yüşra Yatağan and her team from Kağıthane Girls Anatolian Imam Hatip High School.
Additionally, for the first time this year, considering the international participation, a "International Collaboration Award" was introduced in the High School category. This award was presented to Aydar Ali Suiunaliev and his project team from the Kyrgyz Maarif Foundation for their project titled “SMPAR Bishkek: Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Transportation with Future Parking Systems.”

The organization, which brought together science and technology enthusiasts, was strengthened by the support of Bartın Governorship, Bartın Municipality, TÜBİTAK, and Turkey's leading companies in their fields, including SANKO, Havelsan, Roketsan, TUSAŞ, TEI, Aselsan, Türksat, Fibrobeton, ETİSAN Holding, Çanakcılar Holding, Bartın MÜSİAD, Teklas, Tekno-Tıp, and AKTIP. Kamil Koç served as the transportation sponsor for the R&D Project Market, and among its partners was Kuru Kahveci Mehmet Efendi, one of Turkey's oldest enterprises.
