Yayın Tarihi : 16/10/2024
With a project supported by TÜBİTAK, Bartın University (BARÜ) will ensure the environmentally friendly recovery of the byproduct generated after the harvesting of hazelnuts.

The project, led by Şeyma Özlüsoylu, a doctoral student in the Department of Forest Industrial Engineering at the Faculty of Forestry at Bartın University (BARÜ) and a recipient of the YÖK 100/2000 Doctorate Scholarship, has been approved for support under the TÜBİTAK 1002-A Rapid Support program, with guidance from Prof. Dr. Ayben Kılıç Pekgözlü.

Under the project titled “Production of Activated Carbon from Hazelnut Husk Lignin and Performance Characteristics of Supercapacitors,” the aim is to convert the hazelnut husk, which emerges as an organic material after harvesting, into a high-value material. The research will utilize innovative and comprehensive methods with environmentally friendly, low-cost chemicals. Dr. Lecturer Hamza Dünya from BARÜ's Faculty of Science and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Ergün from the Forestry Department of Alanya Alaaddin Keykubat University will contribute as researchers.
