BARÜ's national athletes return from the European Championship with 6 medals

The students of Bartin University (BARÜ) Faculty of Sports Sciences achieved great success at the European Weightlifting Championship. The national athletes returned from the championship with 3 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals, marking a significant accomplishment.

At the Junior and U23 European Weightlifting Championship, held at Raszyn Centrum Sports Hall in Warsaw, Poland, students from Bartın University (BARÜ) Faculty of Sports Sciences achieved remarkable success. Competing in the 67 kg category, Kaan Kahriman dominated the competition with an unprecedented performance. He lifted 144 kg in the snatch, 156 kg in the clean and jerk, and achieved a total of 300 kg, surpassing all his rivals. With this outstanding achievement, he became the European Champion, winning 3 gold medals.

BARÜ’s national athlete Taner Çağlar competed in the +109 kg category, winning a silver medal with a 162 kg lift in the snatch. He finished fourth in the clean and jerk with 196 kg and secured a bronze medal with a total of 358 kg, claiming third place in Europe. Another BARÜ student, Ali Oflaz, also competed in the +109 kg category. He placed fourth in the snatch with 164 kg and fourth in the clean and jerk with 212 kg, but his total of 376 kg earned him second place in Europe. With these outstanding performances, BARÜ’s national athletes brought home a total of 3 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals from the European Weightlifting Championship.
