BARU’s national athlete, Muhammed Gimri, has achieved historic success

Muhammed Gimri, a Bartin University (BARU) Faculty of Sports Sciences student, became the first Turkish athlete to win a gold medal and claim the championship in freestyle wrestling at the U23 World Wrestling Championships.

Competing in the U23 World Wrestling Championships held in the capital of Albania, Tirana, Muhammed Gimri, a student at Bartin University's (BARU) Faculty of Sports Sciences, made history. Muhammed Gimri secured the gold medal by defeating Moldovan Ion Demian, a finalist in the European Youth Championships, with a score of 4-3 in the 92 kg category. Muhammed became a world champion and the first Turkish athlete to achieve first place in freestyle.
