BARÜ's BİRUS Project Attracted Attention at COP16 in Riyadh

The BİRUS project, led by Bartın University (BARÜ), was presented at the United Nations (UN) Convention to Combat Desertification (COP16) meeting held in Riyadh.

This year, the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) Conference of the Parties (COP16) was held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. During this event, which brought together countries that are parties to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification, the project supported by Bartın University (BARÜ) under the European Union (EU) IPA II Framework Agreement was also introduced.

During the presentation by Prof. Dr. Ayhan Ateşoğlu, a faculty member at Bartın University’s Faculty of Forestry, titled “Adaptation Strategies for Climate Change: Reducing Flood and Water Scarcity Risks in Bartın,” the work carried out within the scope of the project was shared. Along with Prof. Dr. Kasım Yenigün, the General Director of Desertification and Erosion Control at the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, the applications carried out within the project were followed with great interest at the meetings, which saw wide participation from Turkey.
