Bartın University (BARÜ) will carry out interdisciplinary studies on various topics with four projects supported under TÜBİTAK's ARDEB 1001 program.
The projects, to be implemented under the "1001 - Supporting Scientific and Technological Research Projects" program, run by the TÜBİTAK Research Support Programs Directorate (ARDEB), will involve researchers from different fields working together.
Enhancing Learning with AI-Supported Pedagogical Agents
In line with Turkey’s National Technology Initiative goals, the project titled “Designing and Evaluating the Effectiveness of Educational Virtual Reality Environments Containing AI-Supported Pedagogical Agents” is led by Prof. Dr. Fatma Gizem Karaoğlan Yılmaz, a faculty member from the Faculty of Science at BARÜ.
The project will focus on individualizing users' learning processes and enhancing their effectiveness. Prof. Dr. Ramazan Yılmaz, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Berk Üstün, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mahir Gülen, and Dr. Şeyma Çağlar Özhan from BARÜ are the researchers involved, with Prof. Dr. Sevim Çelik and Assoc. Prof. Dr. M. Abdullah Bülbül serving as advisors.
Developing Advanced Filtration Technology Against Air Pollution
The project titled “Development of Next-Generation PM Filtration Systems Supported by Metal-Organic Frameworks Using Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) Technique,” led by Dr. Mehmet Yurderi from the Bartın Vocational School, aims to offer new and effective solutions to combat air pollution. The project focuses on reducing the negative health impacts of air pollution. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Zahmakıran, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ümit Tayfun, and Dr. Mustafa Erkartal are also contributing as researchers.
Couple Intervention Program for Those Affected by Earthquakes
The project titled "Gottman-Based Group Intervention Program with Married Couples Affected by Earthquakes: A Mixed Methods Study," led by Dr. Emel Genç from the Faculty of Arts at BARÜ, will be advised by Prof. Dr. John Gottman and Dr. Julie Gottman, founders of the Gottman Institute for Couple Therapy in the United States, and Uzm. Psk. Filiz Kaya Ataklı, founder of the Psychology Istanbul Counseling Center in Turkey.
The project, which also involves Prof. Dr. Hüdayar Cihan from Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University and Dr. Berkan Demir from BARÜ, aims to strengthen the relationships of couples affected by earthquakes and, thereby, improve the psychological well-being of both the couples and their family members.
Developing Domestic and National TADF-OLED Technology
The project titled "Discovery of New Ethynyl-Bridge Acceptors for Donor-Acceptor Type Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence OLEDs," prepared by Dr. Erkan Aksoy from BARÜ’s Project and Technology Office (PTO), aims to develop next-generation energy-efficient devices.
This project focuses on OLEDs with low energy consumption, flexibility, and low cost. These OLEDs have the potential to be used in a wide range of applications, including mobile phones, laptops, TVs, and lighting technologies.
