BARÜ takes pride as two academics are recognized as "Leading Researchers"

Prof. Dr. Mehmet Zahmakıran and Prof. Dr. Fatma Gizem Karaoğlan Yılmaz from Bartın University (BARÜ) have been recognized as "National Leading Researchers" under TÜBİTAK’s BİDEB 2247-A program.

The results of the 2247-A National Leading Researchers Program, launched by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) to support high-quality projects of competent scientists in the country, have been announced. Among the 44 researchers whose projects were selected for support, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Zahmakıran from BARÜ’s Faculty of Science, Department of Biotechnology, and Prof. Dr. Fatma Gizem Karaoğlan Yılmaz from the Department of Computer Technology and Information Systems secured their places.

Prof. Dr. Mehmet Zahmakıran’s project, titled "Development and Applications of Next-Generation Nanocatalysts Using Atomic Layer Deposition Technique" will involve contributions from BARÜ faculty members Prof. Dr. Selçuk Gümüş, Asst. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Erkartal, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Zafer Say from TOBB University as researchers.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Fatma Gizem Karaoğlan Yılmaz aims to offer innovative solutions for identifying students with learning difficulties through her project, "Eye-Tracking Based and AI-Supported Learning Difficulty Identification System."

The project will be conducted in coordination with the Ministry of National Education's General Directorate of Special Education and Guidance Services and Bartın Provincial Directorate of National Education, with which a cooperation protocol has been signed. Additionally, BARÜ faculty members Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kocaarslan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Evrim Güler, Dr Asst. Prof. Dr. Şeyma Çağlar Özhan, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Özge Çulhaoğlu will contribute to the research.
