Students at Bartın University (BARU) have developed an Agricultural Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (ZIHA) using local resources, significantly improving efficiency while saving both time and costs.
Selim Doğukan Yolcu and Özgür Uzunca, students in Mechanical Engineering at Bartın University’s Graduate School, have successfully developed an Agricultural Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (ZİHA). While pursuing their undergraduate degrees, they established the Aviation and Space Club at BARU and produced their first Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV). Through their hard work, they managed to advance their project from “Idea to Product.” In 2023, they successfully launched their first ZIHA, which was used in agricultural spraying activities, achieving significant savings in water, costs, and time.
Students Establish Their Own Company
Determined to take their dreams further, the students applied to the R&D, Product Development, and Innovation Support Program of KOSGEB, which was accepted. They later showcased their project at BARU’s 6th R&D Project Market in 2023, where they met with scientists and industry professionals to discuss the market feasibility of their technology-based innovations. Following the 6th R&D Project Market, Yolcu and Uzunca were awarded a grant under KOSGEB’s Advanced Entrepreneur Program. This support enabled them to establish their company, ENAPTECH, at the Innovation Center in Bartın Organized Industrial Zone.
TEKNOFEST, TÜBİTAK, and IT Valley (Bilişim Vadisi)
Aiming to improve agricultural efficiency and reduce the misuse of water and chemicals with their innovative project, the BARU students achieved significant success in various competitions, including TEKNOFEST. During the centennial celebrations of the Turkish Republic, held in Ankara, Yolcu and Uzunca’s project ranked in the top 10 in the “Industrial Agricultural Technologies” category. Their team garnered significant attention during the five-day event, where they provided visitors with detailed information about their work. Additionally, the students earned the right to apply to the TÜBİTAK-1512 BIGG program and, with the support they received, opened a second branch of their company at Bilişim Vadisi Technopark.
