BARU among ten in 'Sustainable and Climate Friendly Campus' protocol

The first applications within the scope of the protocol signed between the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources and the Council of Higher Education (YÖK/CoHE) will be implemented in 10 universities, including Bartın University (BARU).

At the ceremony held at the Council of Higher Education (YÖK/CoHE) was signed the “Cooperation Protocol in the Field of Creating a Sustainable and Climate-Friendly Campus” covering energy efficiency, renewable energy, sustainability and nature-friendly activities on university campuses.

In the protocol signed by Murat Kurum, Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Fatih Dönmez, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, and the President of YÖK Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, was announced that the first applications would be made in 10 universities, including Bartın University (BARÜ).

The president of Council of Higher Education, Özvar, stated that they aim to create sustainable, energy efficient university campuses compatible with nature that could cause minimal damage to the environment. He maintained that the studies and activities will be carried out on the access of universities to the necessary finance instruments in the process of “the transforming campuses into sustainable and climate-friendly ones”.

Pointing out that they have achieved a lot of success as a university in environmental awareness and sustainability and Rector Prof. Dr. Uzun maintained, "We would like to transfer our achievements to the future in a sustainable way."
