Bartın University's Electricity-Generating 'Smart' Window System Patented

At Bartın University (BARÜ), an 'intelligent' window system capable of generating electricity by managing solar energy logistics through luminescent films made from waste polymers has been patented.

The project by Bartın University (BARÜ), which enables the generation of electricity by harvesting solar energy through smart windows, was successfully completed. As a result of the prolonged efforts of Dr. Erkan Aksoy from the BARÜ Project and Technology Office, luminescent films were produced from waste polymers. This system, a first in Turkey, integrates the polymer coating produced from recycled materials into 'smart' windows, allowing for the transformation of absorbed energy from sunlight into a longer wavelength. This system, which focuses on the logistics of photon energy within the polymer coating, was registered following an application to the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office.

Dr. Aksoy provided information about the patented invention titled 'Method for Producing Standard Luminescent Film from Waste Polymers,' indicating that this project will be introduced in Turkey's energy sector as a local and national product.
