At BARÜFEST'24, Students both had fun and learned

At Bartın University (BARÜ), BARÜFEST'24, which was held with a packed program and various activities over two days, was completed with great enthusiasm with the participation of thousands of people.

The Science, Culture, Art, and Sports Festivals traditionally held at Bartın University (BARÜ): BARÜFEST'24 was completed enthusiastically, along with dozens of activities organized in various fields. In the event, which began with an opening ceremony, BARÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Orhan Uzun stated that, in addition to activities contributing to science and technology, it is important for students to engage in social activities to acquire new competencies.

The Academic Orchestra received great applause for its performance.

At the opening ceremony, the orchestra, conducted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. İlker Kömürcü, Director of the Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University State Conservatory, performed beloved pieces such as 'Yalgızam Yalgız' and 'Kasımpaşa Kıyıları.' Additionally, the orchestra's performance of the '100th Year March' under the direction of Assoc. Prof. Dr. İlker Kömürcü, received great applause from the audience.

Champion Athletes left their mark on BARÜFEST

As part of the festival, the Champion Athletes Area, which featured the biographies, names, and medals of BARÜ's national athletes who significantly impacted Turkish sports, was inaugurated. Moreover, a talk titled From BARÜ to the Olympics: The Journey of Female Athletes to Victory was held. The event began with screening a short film highlighting the achievements of national athletes in the European and World Championships.
In the panel moderated by Dr. Lecturer Çiğdem Gökduman from the Department of Sports Management in the Faculty of Sports Sciences, BARÜ’s national athletes Şennur Demir, Evin Demirhan Yavuz, and Zeynep Yetgil emphasized that the sports environment created at BARÜ played a significant role in their success in both sports and education.

A talk on Turkish poetry from the past to the present

In the talk titled 'Turkish Poetry and Today,' Prof. Dr. Baki Asiltürk, a faculty member in the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at Marmara University's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, discussed the historical development of Turkish poetry and evaluated its current state. The event followed with great interest by academics, students, and literature enthusiasts, concluded with Asiltürk’s reading of his poem 'My Love, My Childhood.'

Theaters, cinemas, performances, folk dances, and canoe shows...

As part of BARÜFEST'24, the plays Otogargara and The Sound of the Earthquake: Aysima, staged by students, received great acclaim. The performances were followed with interest by theater enthusiasts and received strong applause. During the cinema screening, hundreds of students enjoyed watching a movie. At the lake area, student clubs also shared information about their activities and gained new team members. The festival also showcased work on electric cars, unmanned aerial vehicles, unmanned underwater vehicles, and rockets while social responsibility projects were discussed. Over the course of two days, students put on canoe shows at the natural lake area created at BARÜ, providing beautiful scenes.

Local Dance Performances by International Students

International students from around the world, continuing their education at Bartın University (BARÜ), added color to the festivities by dancing in traditional costumes. The participants enthusiastically received international students' traditional dance performances, songs, and shows. Throughout BARÜFEST’24, international students also showcased their own cultures at the booths they set up in the pond area.

BARÜFEST Tournament Champions Receive Their Medals

Students who succeeded in the sports competitions held over a month during BARÜFEST’24 received their awards at a ceremony on the main stage. Medals and trophies were awarded to individuals and teams who placed in the top three in volleyball, basketball, soccer, badminton, table tennis, and chess tournaments.
 
The Rhythm of Music at BARÜ

During the day, students enjoyed the festival with various social, cultural, sports, and artistic activities, while in the evenings, they continued to have fun with concerts. Over two days of BARÜFEST, 12 concerts were held. The concerts began with the ZBEÜ State Conservatory Academic Orchestra and continued with performances by Grup Bipolar, DJ Adalio, and Grup Mokho. On the festival's second day, the stage featured ZBEÜ Akademinin Sesi Choir, BARÜ Music, BAND 67.5, Grup Parthania, and Grup The Soul Staff. Students created a visual feast with the lights from their phones and sang along to the performed songs. In the evenings, DJ performances by BARÜ alumnus DJ Sefa Başaran and BARÜ student Emre Demirkol provided an unforgettable experience for the students.

Colorful Scenes at ColourFest

The “ColorFest,” known as the paint festival, featured vibrant scenes. Young people painted each other with the colors in their hands while dancing to music. DJ performances, music and dance shows, games and activities, traditional Turkish games, and more marked the end of BARÜFEST, allowing students to welcome spring with a festive spirit.
