A magnificent edifice from the Roman Period unearthed after 1,800 years

In the studies carried out by Bartın University (BARÜ) in an area of ​​2,850 square meters in the Ancient City of Amastris, a monumental edifice with eagle-shaped capitals is getting unearthed.

In the ancient city of Amastris in the Amasra district of Bartın, a monumental marble-columned edifice dating back to the Roman Empire Period, 2nd century AD, is getting unearthed. The rescue excavation conducted by the Presidency of the Amasra Museum Directorate with the permission of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums, is carried out under the scientific consultancy of the academic staff of the History of Art Department of Bartın University (BARÜ).
