2018-2019 Academic Year Opening

2018-2019 Academic Year Opening Ceremony of our University was held with the opening lesson named 'Education, Research, Success and Happiness' given by the Vice Rector of Kadir Has University and Dean of Faculty of Engineering and Natural Science Prof. Dr. Ahmet Nihat Berker.
The governor of Bartin Nusret Dirim, the governor of Zonguldak Ahmet Çınar, the mayor of Bartin, Cemal Akın, chief public prosecutor of Bartin Adem Aydemir, President of Turkish Standards Institute Prof. Dr. Adem Şahin, Rector of Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University Prof. Dr. Mustafa Alişarlı, Rector of Çankırı University Prof. Dr. Hasan Ayrancı, Rector of Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University Prof. Dr. Mustafa Çufalı, Çaycuma District Governor Serkan Keçeli, Provincial Gendarmerie Commander G. Sn. Colonel Yavuz Selim Kapancı, Zonguldak Provincial Gendarmerie Commander G. Colonel Gökhan İnan, Bartin Provincial Police Chief Ogün Vural, Zonguldak Provincial Police Chief Ahmet Metin Turanlı, Coast Guard Western Black Sea Group Commander lt. col. Gökmen Gücüyen and provincial administrators, academicians and students participated in the ceremony which was held in the conference hall located in Agdaci Campus.
The ceremony, after one minute's silence and the Turkish National Anthem, began with the movie screening which shows the Bartin University's development.
“The Success Level in Bartin University Increases”
The Governor of Bartin, Dirim, speaking at the opening of the ceremony, stated that it is pleasing to see the increase of the success level in Bartin University. I would like to thank to our founding rector Prof. Dr. Ramazan Kaplan who put so much effort to bring the university to these days and also our rector Prof. Dr. Orhan Uzun. Bartın University takes on an important task to create an identity for Bartin and prepare the city for the future.
“We are excited about starting the new academic year”
Rector of our university, who started his speech by expressing his excitement of starting the 2018-2019 academic year Prof. Dr. Orhan Uzun thanked the participants from the city and outside the city.
Rector Uzun stated that our university has been preparing more than 17 thousand students for the future with 562 academicians and 251 administrative staff and “Our university offers contribution to the higher education area of our country with 153 different departments and programs including 8 Faculties, 3 Institutes, 2 Colleges, 3 Vocational School of Higher Education and 12 Research and Application Centers.
“I believe that we can broaden our perspective together”
Rector Uzun, who stated that the academic year we left behind was good as much as possible, “Of course, I'm not just talking about a learning environment limited to lessons.
“We strive to create qualified learning environments”
Rector Uzun, gave information about the projects completed and planning to be completed in the future in our university and stated that “As a relatively new generation university, we work hard to create qualified learning environments.” As of this year, one of the biggest sports complexes of our country, which gathers 17 sports branches under single roof, was put into service. Our library, which will be one of the biggest in our region, is about to be completed. The construction of our Rectorate Building continues rapidly.
“We strive for our future with my student friends”
Osman Kağan Kayhan, the President of the Student Council of our University, thanked the Rector for his support and said, “We, as Bartin University Student Council”, aim to add value to our city, region and country, starting from our university.

After the speeches, 2018-2019 Academic Year Opening Ceremony of our University went on with the opening lesson named 'Education, Research, Success and Happiness' given by the vice rector of Kadir Has University and Dean of Faculty of Engineering and Natural Science Prof. Dr. Ahmet Nihat Berker.
‘Work Plan Competition Awards’ were given
Later in the ceremony, Business Plan Competition Awards were given for the students who took Applied Entrepreneurship course in cooperation with Bartin University Project and Technology Office General Coordinatorship and KOSGEB Bartin Provincial Directorate.
Faculty of Islamic Sciences breaks a new ground in Turkey
At the opening ceremony, after the success of the Faculty of Islamic Sciences within the scope of TS EN ISO 9001: 2015 Quality Management System Certification, the documents were given by the President of Turkish Standards Institute, Prof. Dr Adem Şahin.
Successful academicians were awarded
“Academic Performance Award” was given to the lecturers who published in the most prestigious journals in the internationally respected journals and published in the highest impact journals.
The awards were given to Instructor Dr. Güneş Günay Sezer and Prof. Dr. Halil Barış Özel for the third place in Academic Performance; Associate Prof. Dr. Deniz Aydemir, Prof. Dr. Osman Gençel and Prof. Dr. Mustafa Sabri Gök for the second place in Academic Performance and Asst. Prof. Abdullah Cahit Karaoğlanlı for the first place in Academic Performance.
The winners of competitions were awarded
Within the scope of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Studies, the academic staff who took part in national competitions during the last academic year and became successful were also given awards.
Academic costume ceremony was held
In the last part of the opening ceremony, the faculty members, who were appointed to the positions of professor, associate professor and assistant professor in the last academic year, wore their robes. At the ceremony; 8 professors, 6 associate professors and 38 assistant professor wore robes and received their certificates of success.
