The project titled "Digital Transformation of Language Teacher Education with Data-Based Evidence" (DigiLTE), in which Bartın University (BARÜ) is among the project partners, will contribute to the training of qualified foreign language instructors with the support of artificial intelligence.
Erasmus+ KA220 HED project titled "Digital Transformation of Language Teacher Education with Data-Informed Evidence (DigiLTE)", which will be carried out in international cooperation under the leadership of TED University, with Bartın University (BARÜ) as a project partner was deemed worthy of support and was entitled to receive 250 thousand Euros of funding from the Turkish National Agency.
Academicians from BARÜ will support the training of language teachers with artificial intelligence
In the project titled "Training Language Teachers in Digital Environments Based on Conversation Analysis" under the coordination of TED University English Language Education Department Faculty Member Assoc. Dr. Ufuk Balaman, BARÜ English Language Education Department Faculty Member Dr. Fatma Badem, Res. See. Betül Çimenli and Educational Sciences Lecturer Dr. Neslihan Köse will contribute as researchers. Researchers from BARÜ, Linköping University, Potsdam University and International University of Catalonia will also work in the project, which aims to train English teachers with the support of artificial intelligence.
Artificial intelligence technology will be used in higher education
By including institutions from different countries within the scope of the DigiLTE project, it will be possible to purposefully combine various demographics and educational processes. In the first step, a video archive based on a unique classroom interaction will be created. The findings will be examined using the conversation analysis research method. Open access catalogs will be created in digital environments and the relevant catalogs will be presented to foreign language candidate teachers in international groups.
The 3rd meeting of the project will be hosted by BARÜ
In the project, which will continue for 2 years, English classes will be monitored for at least 100 hours. Artificial intelligence technology will be used to make the data obtained ready for analysis. Thus, evidence and data-based outputs will be contributed to the language teacher training processes at the undergraduate level. The 3rd international meeting of the project will be held in October 2024, hosted by BARÜ, with the participation of all members of the project team.
