As part of Bartın University’s (BARU) internationalisation goals, various engagements were made in Colombia to enhance research, knowledge sharing, and intercultural interaction.

At BARU, significant progress and successes have been achieved in the fields of education, research and development, and social responsibility, and steps continue to be taken to enhance Turkey’s representation and institutional capacity. With students from 65 different countries and partnerships with 130 universities in 32 countries, BARU aims to ensure that these achievements are sustainably carried into the future.

In this context, BARU Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Zahmakıran and Erasmus Institutional Coordinator Dr. Ahmet Yirmibeş held various meetings in Colombia. During visits to the country’s leading universities, presentations were made on BARU’s visionary projects and focus areas, and discussions were held regarding potential areas of cooperation.

As part of their Colombia engagements, the BARU delegation also visited Beste Pehlivan Sun, Ambassador of Turkey to Bogotá, and Mehmet Can Gümüş, Deputy Coordinator of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) in Bogotá. During these meetings, where views were exchanged, the importance of collaborative work between Turkey and Colombia in the field of higher education, a key component of the Latin American and Caribbean region, was emphasised.
