In cooperation with the Yunus Emre Institute (YEE), Bartın University (BARU) successfully concluded the “Turkish Summer School,” which brought together international students from 10 different countries in Bartın, fostering cultural interaction.

Organized jointly by BARU and YEE, an institution engaged in promoting Turkish culture, language, history, and arts worldwide, the two-week program hosted international students in Bartın. The closing ceremony was held at the Rectorate Conference Hall with the participation of BARU Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya, Yunus Emre Institute representatives, and the international students who took part in the summer school.

The event began with a moment of silence and the recitation of the Turkish National Anthem, followed by opening remarks from BARU Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya. The program then showcased the educational and cultural activities organized for the students during their stay, as well as the participants’ reflections and impressions of Türkiye.

In addition to Turkish language classes, the “Turkish Summer School” offered excursions to Bartın, Amasra, İnkumu, Güzelcehisar, Kurucaşile, Ulus, Karabük, and Zonguldak, introducing the historical and cultural heritage of Bartın and its surroundings. Students also attended workshops on traditional crafts and arts, including Bartın işi tel kırma (a local wire embroidery technique), Karagöz-Hacivat shadow play, ebru (paper marbling), and wooden boat and yacht building. At the closing ceremony, the international students performed poetry recitals, music, and folk dances representing the Turkish culture they had learned during their time at BARU.
