BARÜ’s “60+ University of Renewal” Program Begins

Applications have begun for the 60+ University of Renewal program at Bartın University (BARÜ), which aims to contribute to the lifelong learning and active aging processes of individuals aged 60 and over.
Bartın University (BARÜ) contributes to the concept of lifelong learning through its initiatives addressing different segments of society. In this context, the 60+ University of Renewal program has been launched to bring citizens aged 60 and over together with BARÜ’s academic and social opportunities. Applications have now opened for the program, which offers training in various fields ranging from health and technology to art and culture, and from nature to sports. Through these educational activities, participants will be encouraged to take an active role in social and academic life.
Knowledge and experience will be shared between generations
The program, which has been prepared free of charge for individuals aged 60 and over, has a capacity of 30 participants. The project will bring different generations together on BARÜ campuses and aims to increase the sharing of knowledge and experience while strengthening connections between young people and individuals aged 60 and over. The University of Renewal is also planned to have a structure that is integrated with the city. Within this framework, Bartın’s historical and cultural heritage, as well as its natural riches, will become part of the learning process. In this way, the program will support the active aging processes of individuals aged 60 and over while also enhancing university-community interaction.

BARÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya stated that the 60+ University of Renewal is an important part of the university’s lifelong learning approach and said: “We attach great importance to bringing individuals aged 60 and over together with our University’s knowledge, experience and resources. While our citizens acquire new knowledge in a university environment, we also want our young people to benefit from their life experiences. In this way, we will provide an opportunity for different generations to share their knowledge and experiences on the same campus. With this in mind, we welcome our citizens aged 60 and over to Bartın University to learn, create and share together.”
