Students from Bartın University (BARU) advanced to the finals in competitions held in various categories as part of Türkiye’s Aerospace and Technology Festival, TEKNOFEST 2026.
Organized under the leadership of the Turkish Technology Team Foundation (T3 Foundation) and the Ministry of Industry and Technology, Türkiye’s largest technology and aviation event, TEKNOFEST 2026, continues with competitions held in various categories. Aiming to support young people’s innovative ideas and encourage students to develop technology, the festival saw Bartın University (BARU) students compete as finalists with their innovative projects.
BARU Students Take Their Technology and Engineering Projects to the Finals
In the final stage of the Fighter UAV Competition held at Siirt Airport, the Tunga Saye Team, formed by students from the BARU Aviation and Space Club, succeeded in becoming one of 42 finalist teams in a category that received applications from 1,032 teams across Türkiye. Supervised by Research Assistant Şuheda Kaltakkıran from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Design, the team earned a place among the finalists with the UAV technology it developed. The students had the opportunity to put the theoretical knowledge they acquired at BARU into practice in the fields of UAV design, software, electronic systems and autonomous flight technologies.
In the Robotaxi–Ready Vehicle Category, organized with the aim of enhancing Türkiye’s capabilities in autonomous vehicle technologies, students from BARU’s Science and Technology Club ranked among the top 20 teams out of more than 3,000 applications, thereby qualifying for the final stage. Under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ersin Alaybeyoğlu from the Department of Electrical-Electronics Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Design, the BARU team demonstrated its vehicle’s capabilities in urban transportation scenarios during the final held at the Kocaeli Central Campus.
