Bartın University (BARU) aims to develop innovative methods in plant classification through its new project supported by TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye).

BARU, one of the universities with the highest number of accepted project proposals submitted to TÜBİTAK, continues its success with new initiatives. In this context, a project prepared by Assoc. Prof. Seyfullah Gökoğlu from the Department of Computer Technology and Information Systems at the Faculty of Science has been granted support under TÜBİTAK’s 1002-A Short Term Support Module.

Titled “A New Ease of Differentiation in Plant Systematics: Construction of a Geometric Model for the Brassicaceae Family and Its Testing via Machine Learning,” the project aims to pioneer applications in the analysis and classification of plant species. The findings of the study will also contribute to the “Flora of Turkey” project, which aims to document the biodiversity of the country.

Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Cengiz Karaismailoğlu from the Faculty of Science and Assoc. Prof. Evrim Güler from the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Design will participate in the project as researchers, supporting the study with innovative and comprehensive methodologies.
