Bartın University (BARÜ), with the support of TÜBİTAK, will explore chemotherapy-resistant pancreatic cancer cells to develop new treatment combinations.

The project led by Research Assistant Kübra Sena Baş Topcu from the Molecular Biology and Genetics Department of Bartın University (BARÜ) and supervised by Associate Professor Dr. Ercan Çaçan from Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University's Faculty of Science and Letters, Molecular Biology and Genetics Department, has been approved for support under TÜBİTAK's 1002-A Rapid Support Program.

Titled “Pankreas Kanserinde İmmün Checkpoint HVEM’in Düzenleyici Rolünün Sistem Biyolojisi Yaklaşımıyla Araştırılması” (Investigating the Regulatory Role of Immune Checkpoint HVEM in Pancreatic Cancer Through a Systems Biology Approach), the project will analyze the effects of the HVEM (Herpesvirus Entry Mediator) molecule, a critical component of the immune system, on pancreatic cancer cells using modern methods.

Aimed at developing new strategies in immunotherapy, the research will also involve contributions from Associate Professor Dr. Yavuz Erden from BARÜ’s Molecular Biology and Genetics Department and Research Assistant Kübra Temiz from the Biotechnology Department.
