BARÜ Hosted the “8th National Academic Resource Sharing Workshop”

The “8th National Academic Resource Sharing Workshop,” which addressed interlibrary cooperation in the age of digital transformation and artificial intelligence, was successfully completed at Bartın University (BARÜ).

The “8th National Academic Resource Sharing Workshop” was held at Bartın University (BARÜ) in cooperation with the Anatolian University Libraries Consortium (ANKOS). Organized in the Library Conference Hall at Kutlubey Campus under the theme “Interlibrary Cooperation and New Approaches in the Age of Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence,” the workshop brought together participants working in the fields of academic libraries and information centers from various universities across Türkiye.

Digital Transformation in Library Services Was Discussed

The workshop began with an opening conference in which Assist. Prof. Dr. Ali Bora from BARÜ Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ömer Baykal from the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences shared their knowledge and experiences with the participants regarding the use of the Interlibrary Cooperation Tracking System (KİTS). During the panels held throughout the day, a wide range of topics shaping the future of library services were discussed. Issues such as controlled digital lending apps, alternative resource sharing models, data mining-supported collection management, ILL (Interlibrary Loan) policies and processes, and the modeling of audiovisual cultural heritage through artificial intelligence were presented in detail.

Interlibrary Cooperation Was Emphasized at the Workshop

On the second day of the workshop, a general evaluation was carried out and the outcomes of the process were shared with the participants. Afterwards, a resource sharing training session was held to improve the participants’ practical knowledge and skills. In the closing session, the topics discussed throughout the program were evaluated, and it was emphasized that efforts should be increased to strengthen interlibrary cooperation and develop a culture of collaborative work.

As part of the program, which contributed to multidisciplinary studies, the historical and natural beauties of Bartın were also introduced to the participants.
