A new hybrid system developed by Bartın University (BARU), with support from TÜBİTAK, aims to protect human health and eliminate toxic substances.
Bartın University (BARU) continues to build on its success through new projects within the scientific ecosystem it has established. In this context, a project led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emre Alp, from the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture, and Design, with Dr. Erkan Aksoy, a lecturer from the Project and Technology Office, as a researcher, has been selected for support under the TÜBİTAK 1002-B Emergency Support Program.
The research project, titled “Investigation of Photocatalytic Activities of Dye-Sensitized g-Carbonitride (g-C₃N₄) on Toxic Substances,” aims to contribute to public health by eliminating toxic textile dyes from the environment. The project focuses on breaking down harmful textile dyes and herbicides used in agriculture into harmless substances through an innovative 'photocatalytic' method, which enables faster and more environmentally friendly self-cleaning. With the synthesis of a new hybrid structure, the project takes significant steps toward a healthier, more sustainable future by prioritizing both environmental protection and human health.
