BARU Brings Nature and Science Together at Ulukaya Waterfall

As part of its science–society meetings, Bartın University (BARU) introduced the people of Bartın to the role of nature tourism in local development during an event held at Ulus Ulukaya Waterfall.
 
BARU continues its “Science Café” events with diverse themes to ensure that scientific knowledge reaches the public in an effective and meaningful way. Having previously met with the community in Amasra, BARU this time hosted a science–society meeting at Ulukaya Waterfall in Ulus. The event, titled “Ulus, the Hidden Paradise: The Impact of Nature Tourism on Local Development”, brought together participants of all ages for engaging scientific discussions.
 
Talking about Science in Nature
 
The program, attended by BARU Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya, Ulus District Governor Fırat Kadiroğlu, Ulus Mayor Hasan Hüseyin Uzun, and local residents, featured Dr. Hande Uyar Oğuz from the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Tourism Management. Dr. Uyar Oğuz highlighted the significance of integrating Ulus into tourism, noting that the district has great potential for nature-based tourism activities. She emphasized that transforming its cultural heritage into tourism could provide significant benefits for the people of Bartın, especially the local community, thereby contributing to regional development.
 
The event, which attracted strong interest from participants of all ages, concluded with a question-and-answer session.
