16 medals for BARÜ athletes at the ÜNİLİG Green Crescent Turkey Wrestling Championship

Bartın University (BARÜ) Faculty of Sports Sciences students achieved significant success by winning 4 gold, 4 silver, and 8 bronze medals at the ÜNİLİG Green Crescent Turkey Wrestling Championship.
The ÜNİLİG Green Crescent Turkey Wrestling Championship was organized by the Turkish University Sports Federation (TÜSF) and hosted by Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKÜ). Bartın University (BARÜ) Faculty of Sports Sciences students returned with 16 medals from the organization, which was held with the participation of 619 athletes from 63 universities.
At the championship, BARÜ athletes displayed outstanding performances in individual categories. Bükrenaz Sert in 76 kg, İlayda Çin in 72 kg, and Elif Şevval Kurt in 68 kg defeated their opponents to win gold medals. Büşra Cengiz in 59 kg and Suna Durmaz in 57 kg won silver medals with their successful performances. Thus, the BARÜ Women's Wrestling Team took pride in becoming the champion of Turkey with the points they collected.
In the men's Greco-Roman style, Mehmet Can Daşdemir became the champion of Turkey in 82 kg, while Mehmet Can Üngör won the silver medal in 130 kg. Additionally, Mehmet Hanifi Sarp in 60 kg, Enes Ülkü in 63 kg, Asım Gönültaş in 72 kg, Cengizhan Dağ in 77 kg, and Bünyamin Özcan in 87 kg reached for the bronze medal by coming third in Turkey. With these results, the BARÜ wrestlers placed third as a team in the Greco-Roman style in Turkey. In the men's freestyle, Bayram İlhan won the silver medal in 65 kg, while Mücahit Çelik in 125 kg, Sefa Yıldırım in 70 kg, and Cihad Yılmaz in 61 kg succeeded in winning bronze medals. With these individual results, BARÜ athletes ranked fifth as a team in the freestyle category in Turkey. The excitement of the BARÜ athletes was shared by their coach Lect. Dr. Ömer Akyüz and the head of the delegation Asst. Prof. Dr. Gürkan Elçi.
Thus, BARÜ wrestlers completed the ÜNİLİG Green Crescent Turkey Wrestling Championship with a total of 4 gold, 4 silver, and 8 bronze medals.
Stating that they have added a new one to their successes in the field of sports, BARÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya congratulated the young athletes and their coaches and wished them continued success.
