Hosted by Bartın University (BARÜ), the launch program of the Specialty Academy, implemented by the Turkey Youth Foundation (TÜGVA), was held with the participation of former Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç.
The Specialty Academy Launch Program, implemented by the Turkey Youth Foundation (TÜGVA) to contribute to the academic and intellectual development of youth, was held at Bartın University (BARÜ). The opening lecture of the Specialty Academy, titled “Turkey’s Democratization Steps and Global Justice Vision,” was given by former Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç.
Speaking at the opening of the program, TÜGVA Bartın Provincial University Coordinator Eyyüp İkbal Arı stated that trainings will be provided to young people in 8 different subjects by experts within the scope of the Specialty Academy, and expressed that they aim to contribute to the development of the youth.
TÜGVA Deputy Chairman Enes Seba also explained that TÜGVA has been operating in 81 provinces for approximately 12 years in every field where young people are present—from culture and arts to sports—and emphasized that they will continue to stand by the youth.
“The youth coming to our Bartın University have made our city more beautiful.”
Yılmaz Tunç touched upon Turkey’s development process in the fields of law and democracy regarding the subject of “Turkey’s Democratization Steps and Global Justice Vision.” Yılmaz Tunç said, “After the academic year opening lecture of our Bartın University, we are now together with you at the opening lecture of the TÜGVA Specialty Academy. Our University, which is the locomotive of our province, has developed Bartın greatly; the youth coming here have made our city more beautiful. I will always carry the honor of having submitted the proposal for the founding law of our University and contributing to its establishment. TÜGVA is also a non-governmental organization working for the public interest, contributing to the good upbringing of our youth and the academic studies of our students. Following today's opening lecture, important names will continue to meet with our youth within the scope of the Specialty Academy.”
“Scientists were raised from our ancestors, and scientists will emerge from our youth as well.”
Addressing the youth, Tunç said, “Our youth are our strongest resource for us to defend justice and fairness in the world. With the breakthroughs made, we have reached a position to export our own weapons, UAVs, SIVs, and helicopters by producing them ourselves. If we are independent in energy and defense, and if we prepare our youth for the future in the best way, Turkey will cover significant ground in its powerful position in the world. If our youth are well-educated and strive to do the best in their professions, Turkey's development, unity, and togetherness will be even stronger. My advice to our youth is that self-confidence is the first step to success; trust yourselves. Our ancestors achieved everything; Avicenna, Al-Farabi, Ibn Khaldun, Piri Reis, Katip Çelebi, Ali Qushji, Al-Jazari, and Al-Khwarizmi are our scientists. When we come to the last century, scientists like Nuri Killigil, Nuri Demirağ, and Aziz Sancar were raised; scientists will emerge from our youth as well. Therefore, make the best use of your time, read a lot. Be interested in technology but do not become its prisoner. Knowledge makes you powerful. When you work, you will surely receive the reward for your labor.”
The event, which saw intense participation, ended after Yılmaz Tunç took selfies with the students.
