AI-Supported Language Teaching to be Developed through BARU’s Project Partnership

An international project in which Bartın University (BARU) is a partner will contribute to helping teachers adapt to digital transformation with the support of artificial intelligence.
 
The project, titled “New-Gen Language Teachers: Empowering Language Teaching with Ethical AI-Enhanced Guidance”, in which BARU is among the partners, has been selected for funding under the Erasmus+ KA220 HED Cooperation Partnerships in Higher Education. Coordinated by the University of Latvia, the project has secured €250,000 in funding from the Latvian National Agency.
 
Contributing to the Global Education Network
 
Alongside BARU, the project partners include Anadolu University from Türkiye, the University of Granada from Spain, and Hafelekar Unternehmensberatung Schober GmbH from Austria. The project will start in the fall semester of 2025 and run for 24 months. Coordinated by Dr. Neslihan Köse from BARU’s Faculty of Education, the project team will also include Dr. Erdi Şimşek and Dr. Betül Çimenli Olcars as researchers.
 
Within the scope of the project, a 20-hour open-access Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) will be developed for prospective foreign language teachers. The course will include a comprehensive training program covering topics such as learning outcomes for integrating AI into language teaching, content development, and assessment methods. Additionally, it will feature ethical case studies focusing on issues such as biases in AI systems, data security, and transparency, as well as sample lesson plans and a gamified open-access training kit.
