Minister of Culture and Tourism Ersoy Inspected BARÜ’s Excavation Works at the Ancient City of Tios

Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy and his accompanying delegation inspected the archaeological excavation works carried out at the Ancient City of Tios in Filyos under the leadership of Bartın University (BARÜ).
Minister Ersoy visited Bartın to participate in a series of meetings and visits. After completing his engagements in Bartın, he traveled to the Ancient City of Tios in Filyos, Zonguldak, one of the most significant ancient settlements in the region.
During the visit, the Minister examined the excavation works conducted under the coordination of Bartın University. He was accompanied by Zonguldak Governor Osman Hacıbektaşoğlu, BARÜ Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Selçuk Gümüş, and Prof. Dr. Şahin Yıldırım, Head of the Excavation and faculty member from the Department of Art History at BARÜ’s Faculty of Letters.
Excavation Director Prof. Dr. Şahin Yıldırım provided detailed information to Minister Ersoy about the historical significance of the ancient city and the artifacts uncovered during the excavations. He also delivered a comprehensive presentation about the archaeological excavation work and restoration process carried out while preserving the original architectural texture of the structures.
During the visit, discussions were also held regarding the protection of the Ancient City of Tios and the steps that can be taken to integrate the site into tourism.
