XI. Association for Women Mathematicians Workshop held at BARÜ

In the workshop hosted by Bartın University (BARÜ), women mathematicians working in different fields of mathematics came together to share their knowledge and experiences.

The XI. Association for Women Mathematicians Workshop, organized to bring together women academics and researchers working in the field of mathematics, was hosted this year by Bartın University (BARÜ). The organization, held in cooperation with the BARÜ Faculty of Science Department of Mathematics and the Association for Women Mathematicians (TKMD), brought together scientists working in various fields of mathematics.

The workshop program was prepared under the headings of geometry and topology, algebra, and applied mathematics. In the program featuring expert academics, Prof. Dr. Sinem Onaran from Hacettepe University, Asst. Prof. Dr. Bahar Acu from Boğaziçi University (Pitzer College), and Asst. Prof. Dr. Adalet Çengel from BARÜ took part as speakers in the geometry and topology sessions. In the sessions on algebra, Prof. Dr. Evrim Akalan and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Berke Kaleboğaz from Hacettepe University met with participants along with Asst. Prof. Dr. Yasemin Kara from Boğaziçi University. In the applied mathematics sessions, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mükerrem Bahar Başkır from BARÜ, Asst. Prof. Dr. Elçim Elgün Kırımlı from Acıbadem University, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nilay Duruk Mutlubaş from Sabancı University shared their knowledge and experiences.

In addition to the invited speakers, women researchers from different fields of mathematics also presented their work through short presentations. During the presentations throughout the workshop, current research, innovative methods, and the interaction of mathematics with different disciplines were discussed. The importance of strengthening academic solidarity among women mathematicians was also emphasized. The two-day workshop was completed with the intense participation of Mine Fırıncıoğlu, President of the TOBB Bartın Women Entrepreneurs Board, as well as academics, graduate students, and researchers from different universities across Türkiye.
