“World Mathematics Day” event held at BARÜ

In the event organized at Bartın University (BARÜ) within the scope of International Mathematics Day, the impact of mathematics on science, technology, and daily life was discussed.
A “World Mathematics Day” event was organized at Bartın University (BARÜ) in cooperation with the Bartın Provincial Directorate of National Education as part of International Mathematics Day. The program, held in the Conference Hall of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences & Faculty of Education with the theme “Mathematics and Hope,” was carried out with the contributions of the Faculty of Education Department of Mathematics Education, the Faculty of Science Department of Mathematics, the Mathematics Club, and the Arf Club.
Speaking at the opening of the event, BARÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya addressed the students, saying, “Today, we will learn by experiencing the magical world of mathematics. Above all, we are teachers. In cooperation with the Bartın Provincial Directorate of National Education, very valuable mathematics teachers are also among us. A teacher is the person who creates the learning environment and illuminates the student's path. This event shows students that looking at the world and interpreting the future is possible through mathematics.”
In the program, the Dean of the Faculty of Science, Prof. Dr. Ömer Kişi, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Neslihan Usta from the Faculty of Education stated that mathematics has an important place in every field of life and expressed that students' interest in mathematics should be increased.
In the event, which drew intense interest from students of different age groups, participants had the opportunity to see the interdisciplinary importance of mathematics closely, while both having fun and learning. Additionally, paintings, experiments, and informative materials on mathematics were exhibited in the foyer area throughout the day.
