With the project of Bartın University (BARÜ) supported by the Health Institutes of Turkey (TUSEB), the enzyme in the kits used for the diagnosis of diabetes will be produced locally.

The project of Bartın University (BARÜ) titled “Recombinant Production of GDH Enzyme in Bioreactor System to be Used in Bedside Glucose Measurement Devices” was entitled to be supported within the scope of the A Group Urgent R&D Project Call of the Health Institutes of Turkey (TÜSEB). In the project carried out by Assoc. Prof. Dr Dursun Kısa from the BARÜ Faculty of Sciences, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, Asst. Prof. Dr. Rizvan İmamoğlu from the same department will participate in as a researcher.

Within the scope of the project, high-efficiency production of the GDH enzyme will be realized by optimizing the production in the bioreactor. Thus, enzymes that are imported for domestic glucometer devices (diabetes detection kits) will be produced in BARÜ laboratories. At the end of the project, millions of Liras will remain in the country with the use of locally produced enzymes.
