As part of Bartın University’s (BARÜ) project aimed at enhancing the city's tourism potential, efforts are underway to establish water sports routes on the Bartın River.

BARÜ continues its work on a project supported by the Western Black Sea Development Agency (BAKKA) to promote tourism through water sports on the Bartın River. The project is led by Assoc. Prof. Serdar Ceyhun, Head of the Department of Sports Management at BARÜ’s Faculty of Sports Sciences, with contributions from Dr. Sevim Handan Yılmaz, Dr. Cemal Özman, and Dr. Hande Uyar Oğuz from the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences.

As part of the project, field studies are being conducted to assess the potential for water sports and identify the most suitable areas. The research, which began in the Çağlayan region of the Bartın River, extends through Orduyeri and Yalı, covering a vast area up to the Boğaz district. Approximately 15 kilometers of the river are being analyzed based on various criteria, and the selected routes are being mapped with coordinates.
