The "History of Science: Astrolabe Workshop" at BARU was organized with a broad participation

With Prof. Dr. Jan P. Hogendijk, Msc., Wilfred de Graaf and Tom Reijngoudt's participation from Utrecht University, the workshop attracted a great attention.

"History of Science: Astrolabe Workshop" was held by the Philosophy Department of the Faculty of Letters of Bartin University (BARU). Students and academicians showed a great interest in the workshop organized in the Library Conference Hall of Kutlubey Campus.

The workshop, lasting two days, started with Dr. Irem Aslan Seyhan's speech, a Faculty Member of the Department of Philosophy and the Head of the Division of History of Science.

At the workshop, the famous historian of mathematics from the Department of Mathematics at Utrecht University, Prof. Dr. Jan P. Hogendijk, Msc. made a speech entitled" On the Astrolabe and its Construction: Taqiyuddin ibn Ma'ruf." Wilfred de Graaf participated in the workshop with a speech entitled "The Use of the Astrolabe." Tom Reijngoudt also gave a speech entitled "The Ebcet Numeral System."

During the two-day workshop, the participants obtained important information regarding the field in theory and practice.
