Students from 11 Countries Come Together at BARÜ’s “Turkish Summer School”

The “Turkish Summer School,” organized in cooperation with Bartın University (BARÜ) and Yunus Emre Institute (YEE), brought together international students from 11 different countries.
The 2026 Turkish Summer School programme, organized at Bartın University (BARÜ) in cooperation with Yunus Emre Institute (YEE), which carries out important activities to promote Turkish culture, language, history and art around the world, was successfully completed. Hosted by BARÜ-TÖMER, Bartın University’s Turkish Teaching Application and Research Center, the three-week programme enabled 12 international students from 11 different countries to get to know Türkiye as well as Turkish culture and traditions. International students who came to BARÜ from Venezuela, Argentina, Moldova, Jordan, Palestine, Georgia, Morocco, Rwanda, Somalia, the United Kingdom and Kazakhstan had the opportunity to improve their Turkish language skills and closely discover Bartın’s historical, cultural and natural riches at the Turkish Summer School.
Within the scope of the programme, cultural trips were organized to Amasra, Safranbolu, Zonguldak, Kurucaşile, Güzelcehisar, İnkumu and Ulukaya Waterfall. In addition to boat tours, cycling activities, nature walks, village breakfasts and various organizations, the students also experienced traditional Turkish tastes. Through the programme, which supported educational activities with social and cultural events, the participants improved their Turkish language skills while closely discovering Türkiye’s cultural richness.
Stating that the Turkish Summer School contributed to helping students establish strong bonds of affection with Türkiye, BARÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya said, “As Bartın University, we continue to contribute to the promotion of Turkish and our culture in line with our internationalization vision. Through the Turkish Summer School, we brought together students from different parts of the world at our University. In addition to the education they received, our students had the opportunity to see Bartın’s historical, natural and cultural riches on site. I believe that with the friendships they have built and the experiences they have gained, they will return to their countries as Türkiye’s voluntary cultural ambassadors. On this occasion, I would like to extend my thanks to Prof. Dr. Abdurrahman Aliy, President of Yunus Emre Institute, for his valuable contributions to the international promotion of Turkish and our culture.”
