11 Mart 2026
At Bartın University (BARÜ), students showcased their proficiency in Qur’an recitation and memorization during a competition organized on campus.

At Bartın University (BARÜ), the “Inter-University Qur’an Memorization and Beautiful Recitation Competition” was organized under the leadership of the Presidency of Religious Affairs and the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) to enhance students’ Qur’an reading skills. The program, held in the Rectorate Conference Hall, began with a recitation of the Qur’an, followed by opening speeches delivered by BARÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya, Bartın Provincial Mufti Ömer Keskin, and the Dean of the Faculty of Theology, Prof. Dr. Ömer Başkan.

In his opening speech, Rector Akkaya emphasized the spiritual significance of the event, stating:

“All our readings are ultimately for understanding a single book. This meaningful event represents the harmony of beautiful recitation and memorization, culminating in a work that fills our hearts with peace. We must strive to understand the Qur’an. Reading means perceiving what we feel and making sense of what we hear. Reciting the Qur’an fills our hearts with tranquility.”

During the competition, students performed in the categories of “Memorization (Hifz)” and “Beautiful Qur’an Recitation.” Participants were evaluated by a jury based on various criteria. As a result of the evaluations, Muhammed Enes Işık was selected as the winner in the Memorization category, while Talha Bilgiç placed first, Recep Şahin second, and Zidny İlahiyal Husna third in the Beautiful Recitation category. The top-ranking students earned the right to represent BARÜ in the regional competitions.
