The opening ceremony of Bartın University's (BARU) 7th R&D Project Market, which this year reached an international scale, was held with the enthusiastic participation of contestants from nine different countries.

Since 2017, Bartın University has hosted the R&D Project Market with the goal of fostering a society that produces and develops technology. This year, for the first time, the event expanded to an international level, with its opening ceremony taking place at the Kutlubey Campus with a large turnout. The event commenced with the screening of BARU’s “Development Story” promotional film. Opening speeches were delivered by Bartın Governor Dr. Nurtaç Arslan and BARU Rector Prof. Dr. Orhan Uzun.

“Our University Will Add New Achievements Through the R&D Project Market”
Governor Dr. Nurtaç Arslan highlighted the project development ecosystem established at BARU, stating, “Bartın University has achieved significant success, especially in recent years, with its research-focused initiatives and innovative projects that contribute not only to academia but also to society. I sincerely believe that the 7th International R&D Project Market will add new achievements to the university’s record and that the projects showcased here will contribute to our country’s development goals based on technology and knowledge.”

“We Will Continue to Support Innovative Ideas for the Future”
BARU Rector Prof. Dr. Orhan Uzun emphasized their commitment to encouraging young people to contribute to the development of domestic technologies and paving the way for technological entrepreneurship. He remarked, “To date, many inspiring projects we developed to contribute to our country’s National Technology Initiative have evolved from ideas into tangible products, making significant contributions to various sectors. At this point, we will continue to work and produce with a strong sense of responsibility, united in our efforts.”

“BARU Academic Performance Awards” Presented to Outstanding Faculty
As part of the 7th International R&D Project Market, BARU honored faculty members who published the highest number of articles in internationally recognized journals in 2023. These faculty members were recognized with the “Academic Performance Awards” in four categories: diamond, gold, silver, and bronze, for their outstanding work and scientific contributions.

Additionally, certificates of achievement in the "Project and Innovation" categories were awarded to faculty members who led externally funded projects and had their work patented in 2023, further cementing BARU’s reputation on both national and international levels.

“National Leading Researchers” Applauded on Stage
During the program, two prominent scientists from BARU’s Faculty of Science, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Zahmakıran and Prof. Dr. Fatma Gizem Karaoğlan Yılmaz, were invited on stage. Their projects, deemed worthy of support under TÜBİTAK’s 2247-A National Leading Researchers Program, were recognized for their significant contributions to qualified research in the country.
