Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya, Rector of Bartın University (BARÜ), celebrated the 107th anniversary of the Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, May 19, in a message he issued.

Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya, Rector of Bartın University (BARÜ), stated in his message issued on the occasion of the Commemoration of Atatürk, May 19 Youth and Sports Day, that May 19, 1919 is an important symbol of the Turkish nation’s struggle for independence.

Rector Akkaya stated the following by emphasizing the role of young people in Türkiye’s future in his message:

“May 19, 1919 represents one of the most significant steps our nation took on the path to independence and the beginning of a great struggle waged with determination and resolve. The torch of independence kindled by Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk when he set foot in Samsun was carried to victory through our nation’s spirit of unity and solidarity. The dedication of this day to our youth is the strongest indication of the value placed on young people, who are the assurance of our future. As Bartın University, we regard it as one of our foremost responsibilities to raise young people who are guided by science, committed to their national and spiritual values, productive, and dedicated to contributing to their country. We believe that the energy, determination, and vision of our youth will lead our country toward a stronger tomorrows. On the occasion of this meaningful day, I commemorate Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, his comrades-in-arms, and all the heroes of our struggle for independence with respect, gratitude, and mercy. I celebrate the Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day, May 19, of our beloved nation.”
