Bartın University (BARÜ) Rector Prof. Ahmet Akkaya discussed the university’s scientific achievements, academic programmes and future goals on BRTV’s “Gündem Özel” programme.

Following the announcement of the results of the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS), Bartın University (BARÜ) Rector Prof. Ahmet Akkaya appeared as a live guest on “Gündem Özel”, broadcast by BRTV, one of the leading television channels in the Western Black Sea Region. During the programme, hosted by Zafer Acar, Rector Akkaya offered advice to prospective students and their families regarding the university preference process.

Stating that BARÜ currently provides education to thousands of students through nine faculties, four vocational schools, the School of Foreign Languages and the Institute of Graduate Studies, Rector Akkaya noted that the university is among the higher education institutions specialising in the field of “Smart Logistics and Integrated Regional Applications”. He also mentioned the ninth International R&D Project Market, which will be held this year, as well as “Bilimfest Bartın”, which will take place in Bartın for the first time.

Emphasising that BARÜ has achieved significant success at both national and international levels, Rector Akkaya said:

“We are included in prestigious rankings such as Times Higher Education, ShanghaiRanking, URAP, EngiRank and GreenMetric. Our scientific output and research quality continue to grow stronger every year. While 18 of our researchers have been included in the World’s Most Influential Scientists List, 254 of our student projects have qualified for support from TÜBİTAK this year. We have achieved these successes together with our academics and students.”

Rector Akkaya also stated that the university continually develops its academic programmes in line with the needs of the modern age, adding:

“We offer programmes designed for the professions of the future, including Artificial Intelligence Operations, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, Telehealth Technician Training and Smart Infrastructure Technician Training. In addition to introducing new programmes, we implement the 7+1 and 3+1 education models, which enable students to gain professional experience. We attach great importance to university–industry cooperation and ensure that our students engage with professional life before graduation.”

At the end of the programme, Rector Akkaya underlined the importance of considering students’ interests, career goals and the opportunities offered by universities, and invited prospective students to become part of the BARÜ family.
