Rector Akkaya Advises Prospective Students on University Preferences

Bartın University (BARÜ) Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya shared important recommendations with prospective students following the announcement of the 2026 Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) results.

Following the announcement of the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) results, prospective students have started preparing for the university preference period. Bartın University (BARÜ) Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya also issued a message for prospective students, emphasizing the importance of considering their interests, abilities and career goals while making their choices.

Drawing attention to the statement by Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, President of the Council of Higher Education (CoHE), on evaluating new programmes focused on artificial intelligence and the professions of the future, Rector Akkaya stated that young people should have a vision for producing technology in the world of the future.

Stating that choosing a university is an important turning point in one’s career journey, Rector Akkaya addressed young people with the following message:

“Dear young people, after months of hard work, you will soon enter the university preference period. With great excitement, you are researching universities, cities and departments in order to make the right decision that will shape your future. In this process, making well-informed choices in line with your interests, abilities and future goals is of great importance. Today, fields that respond to the needs of a changing world are becoming increasingly prominent. While making your choices, it will be beneficial for you to consider undergraduate and associate degree programmes related to these fields. At this point, as Bartın University, we strive to prepare you for the business world in the best possible way through our programmes focused on the professions of the future, namely Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence Operations, Smart Infrastructure Technician, and Telehealth Technician.”

Rector Akkaya also said, “Every choice opens the door to a new beginning. I hope that our young people will make the right decisions by believing in themselves, discovering their abilities and looking to the future with hope. On this occasion, I invite prospective students to get to know the educational environment and campus life offered by Bartın University more closely.”
