Bartın University (BARÜ) Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya visited Dr. Hasan Gezginç, General Director of the General Directorate of Agricultural Enterprises (TİGEM).
During the meeting, comprehensive evaluations were carried out regarding the European Union (EU)-funded SoilScape (Soil Living Lab) project, which was initiated with the aim of providing financial support for innovative initiatives focused on soil protection.
The meeting included discussions on combining TİGEM’s land resources and agricultural production capacity with BARÜ’s academic expertise and research and development capabilities. In addition, the parties agreed to collaborate on initiatives such as improving soil health, increasing carbon sequestration capacity, and developing climate-resilient agricultural production models.
Through the cooperation between BARÜ and TİGEM, the partners aim to take a significant step towards Türkiye’s sustainable agriculture goals, expand the scope of the field applications of the SoilScape project, and ensure that the scientific outputs obtained contribute directly to the agricultural sector.
