Message from Rector Akkaya on the "July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day"

Bartın University (BARÜ) Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya emphasized “The Will Is Ours, The Victory Is Ours” in his message published on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day.

Bartın University (BARÜ) Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya published a message on the occasion of July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day and included the following statements:

“Exactly 10 years ago, on the night of July 15, 2016, the coup attempt targeting the unity and solidarity of our country was thwarted through the unwavering will of our nation, its loyalty to the state, and its love for the homeland. That night, our noble nation once again demonstrated to the world that no power can stand above the national will. The spirit of independence that Mehmet Âkif Ersoy engraved in the hearts of our nation with his call, ‘Do not fear!’, came to life once again in the hearts of the millions who filled the squares upon the call of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, on the night of July 15. With the same spirit, the same faith, and the same determination, our nation stood up for its future. As universities, our most important responsibility is to educate generations who are guided by the light of science, who know their history, and who are committed to their national and moral values. The greatest legacy that night left us is the truth that, by saying ‘The Will Is Ours, The Victory Is Ours,’ there is no obstacle we cannot overcome when we stand united. With these feelings and thoughts, on the 10th anniversary of July 15, I commemorate with respect, gratitude, and mercy our beloved martyrs who defended the national will at the cost of their lives, and I extend my gratitude to our heroic veterans.”
