Within the scope of March 8 International Women's Day, various events were organized at Bartın University (BARÜ) to draw attention to the role of women in social life and to create awareness.

March 8 International Women's Day events were organized at Bartın University (BARÜ) under the coordination of the Women and Family Studies Application and Research Center. The program, which lasted all day and drew intense interest, included many activities ranging from panels to workshops, from a quiz to exhibitions and a concert. The March 8 International Women's Day events began with the "Woman Beyond Borders: Rights and Hopes Panel" at the Kutlubey Campus and the "Impact of Social Roles in the Fight Against Addiction Conference" at the Ağdacı Campus.

Delivering the opening speech of the "Woman Beyond Borders: Rights and Hopes Panel," BARÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya said, “The struggles of women for better working conditions and equal rights have transformed into international awareness throughout the historical process. This historical process has gained a stronger meaning today thanks to the perseverance, determination, and solidarity of women. The participation of women in every field of education, science, management, and social life is one of the fundamental conditions for a fairer, more productive, and more developed society. As Bartın University, we know that the valuable work put forth by our female academicians, staff, and students in many areas—from science to art, from education to social contribution—is a source of great pride for us.”

In the following panel moderated by Prof. Dr. Sinem Tarhan from the Faculty of Education, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gülsün Şahan provided information on “Education of Women in Turkey,” Dr. Nagehan Taner on “Subjectivity and Resilience Between Womanhood and Motherhood,” and Psychologist Müberra Aydın on “Woman-Oriented Protection Mechanism: Law No. 6284 and Institutional Services.”

In the “Impact of Social Roles in the Fight Against Addiction Conference” organized at the Ağdacı Campus in cooperation with the Green Crescent, Young Green Crescent, and the Women and Leadership Club, Kadriye Bulut touched upon the responsibilities and challenges women face in the fight against addiction under the title “Women in Addiction and the Fight Against Addiction.” The debate and game workshops held after the conference offered an interactive experience to the participants.

During the day-long events, participants enjoyed the quiz titled “Knowledge Feast of Women Who Left Their Mark,” while the “A Feminine Echo” concert by the Music Club and the “More Than What is Seen: Woman” photography exhibition by the Photography Club met with art lovers. Additionally, the “Peace with Body, Meeting with Soul” and “Respect for Body, Healing for Soul” pilates workshops organized by the Recreation Club at the Ağdacı and Kutlubey Campuses drew intense interest from women.
