July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day Conference

At a conference held with reference to ‘July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day’ at Bartin University (BARU), the social mechanisms related to the coup attempted on July 15 have been addressed.

Within the scope of ‘July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day’, a conference titled ‘The Sociological Roots of the Coup: Social Foundations Creating FETO (Fethullah Terrorist Organization)’ has been conducted by the Governorship of Bartin and Bartin University (BARU).

The conference has been moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Omer Baykal, Political Scientist at Bartin University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences.

Making the speech titled ‘The Sociological Roots of the Coup: Social Foundations Creating FETO (Fethullah Terrorist Organization)’, Prof. Dr. Ergun Yildirim from Istanbul Sabahattin Zaim University reported that the coup attempted on the date of July 15, 2016 differentiated from others, and the founders of FETO had always been contemplating establishing a regime and a state according to their own agenda.

A short film titled ‘For the love of Turkey’ prepared by the Presidential Directorate of Communication has been run at the conference, and then the participants have found chance to visit ‘Books on July 15’ exhibition. At the exhibition held in Kutlubey Campus Library, the largest library in the region, books written with various viewpoints on July 15 have been introduced.
