Hybrid Structure Developed at BARÜ for Hydrogen Production Receives Patent

A hybrid structure developed at Bartın University (BARÜ) for use in hydrogen energy production has been registered by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT).

High-quality projects developed at Bartın University (BARÜ) continue to gain recognition through patent registrations. Most recently, the invention titled “Production of a Hybrid Structure Comprising Ruthenium Nanoparticles and an Amine-Functionalized Cross-Linked Copolymer Support Material” was granted a patent by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TÜRKPATENT).

The hybrid structure, which can be used in nanomaterials, catalysis and energy storage systems, was developed by Lecturer Dr. Erkan Aksoy from the BARÜ Project and Technology Office; Prof. Dr. Mehmet Zahmakıran and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Bulut from the Faculty of Sciences; and Prof. Dr. Latif Elçi, a retired faculty member of Pamukkale University. The invention involves the production of a hybrid structure composed of ruthenium nanoparticles and an amine-functionalized cross-linked copolymer support material. The structure obtained through a chemical reduction process will subsequently be converted into a ready-to-use catalyst through additional procedures. The resulting hybrid structure is expected to contribute to applications in hydrogen energy production.

Expressing his satisfaction with the patenting of the hybrid structure developed through innovative methods, BARÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya congratulated the project team and wished them continued success in their work.
