20 Nisan 2026
At Bartın University (BARÜ), former Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank met with students as part of the TÜGVA Specialization Academy program and shared insights on technology and entrepreneurship.
Hosted by Bartın University (BARÜ), activities continue within the scope of the Specialization Academy program implemented by the Türkiye Youth Foundation (TÜGVA). In this context, a program was organized with the participation of Mustafa Varank—former Minister of Industry and Technology, Member of Parliament for Bursa, and Chair of the Grand National Assembly’s Industry, Trade, Energy, Natural Resources, Information and Technology Commission. The event, where important messages were delivered to young people regarding technology and entrepreneurship, attracted significant interest.
The opening speeches of the program, held at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences–Faculty of Education Conference Hall on the Kutlubey Campus, were delivered by Bartın MP Yusuf Ziya Aldatmaz, BARÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya, TÜGVA Vice President İsmail Hakkı Karagüzel, and TÜGVA Provincial Representative Caner Can Cihan.
In his speech, Rector Akkaya stated: “The words we choose are truly valuable, and ‘specialization’ is one of them. When we look at the Turkish Language Association, we see that the word ‘specialization’ refers to expertise. Based on this meaning, I would like to thank TÜGVA for organizing activities that embody and promote this concept.”
Drawing attention to Türkiye’s technological vision and the roles to be undertaken by young people, Mustafa Varank said: “When TÜGVA was first being established—when it was still just an idea—we sat around the same table with our young brothers and sisters and discussed what we could achieve in the future. Recently, civil society organizations in Türkiye targeting youth have been producing high-quality work. Türkiye is a country with significant historical responsibilities, striving to stand on its own feet in a challenging geography and continuing its struggle for independence. In this context, important responsibilities fall upon you, our young people.”
Emphasizing that Türkiye has made significant strides in recent years in areas ranging from the defense industry to technology entrepreneurship, Varank added:
“One of Türkiye’s most important infrastructural resources is its universities. You, our valuable youth, can come to universities, receive education, participate in R&D activities, and attend TEKNOFEST. In fact, you are building an economy. As those who have had the honor of serving this country, we are aware of our responsibilities. However, the primary responsibility now rests on your shoulders. The steps that will shape Türkiye’s future will be taken through your determination and perseverance.”
