Disaster Awareness Training Provided at BARÜ in Cooperation with AFAD

At Bartın University (BARÜ), a series of training programs conducted within the scope of the “Disaster-Ready University” initiative aims to increase disaster awareness among academic and administrative staff as well as students.
In line with the “Disaster-Ready University” efforts at Bartın University (BARÜ), a training series has been launched in cooperation with the Bartın Provincial Directorate of Disaster and Emergency Management (AFAD). Within the framework of the program, AFAD trainers are providing information to academic and administrative personnel and students across faculties, schools, and vocational schools at BARÜ on what should be done during and after disasters.
As part of the “Disaster Awareness Training,” topics such as pre-disaster preparedness, emergency kit preparation, safe assembly areas, and basic disaster awareness are covered. In addition, through the “Earthquake Drill,” participants are practically shown the correct actions to take during an earthquake. Critical issues such as creating a safe space using the “Drop–Cover–Hold On” method, indoor evacuation procedures, and panic management are reinforced through hands-on practice.
The training activities carried out at BARÜ in line with the “Disaster-Ready University” vision are planned to be completed by April 28, 2026.
