City and logistics discussed in its various dimensions at BARÜ

In the panel organized at Bartın University (BARÜ), logistics solutions that can be implemented within the city, ranging from smart transportation systems to disaster evacuation planning, were discussed.
A panel titled “City and Logistics” was organized by the Bartın University (BARÜ) Faculty of Engineering, Architecture, and Design. The panel, which also covers BARÜ’s specialization area of “Smart Logistics and Integrated Regional Applications,” featured Assoc. Prof. Dr. Barış Yıldız from Koç University, Res. Asst. Senior Engineer Sadullah Göncü from Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ali Silgu from BARÜ as speakers.
In the program held online under the moderation of the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture, and Design, Prof. Dr. Handan Ucun Özel, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yıldız first discussed new perspectives in the delivery of products and services in the logistics sector under the title “Mobility of Things: A Transformative Approach in Urban Logistics.”
Res. Asst. Göncü provided information on the topic of “Natural Disasters and Evacuation of Cities,” sharing historical processes, activities implemented for different types of disasters, and points to be considered during evacuation stages with the participants.
Finally, Asst. Prof. Dr. Silgu spoke about “Approaching the Bartın Traffic Problem from the Perspective of Smart Transportation Systems,” mentioning applications that can be developed through effective data use in urban transportation.
The program, which was followed with great interest, was concluded with the participation of BARÜ Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Selçuk Gümüş and Prof. Dr. Mustafa Sabri Gök, along with academicians.
