BARÜ’s Virtual Reality-Based Nursing Education Project Receives TÜBİTAK Support

Bartın University (BARÜ) will contribute to the development of nursing students’ professional skills through the use of a virtual reality-based application in nursing education with its project supported under the TÜBİTAK-ARDEB 1002-A Program.
The project, led by Assoc. Prof. Hilal Uysal from the Department of Nursing at BARÜ’s Faculty of Health Sciences, has been awarded support under the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK) Research Support Programs Directorate (ARDEB) 1002-A Rapid Support Module. Within the scope of the project titled “HeartSoundVR: A Virtual Reality-Based Cardiac Auscultation Skills Training Application,” an innovative virtual reality-based educational application will be developed to improve nursing students’ cardiac auscultation (heart sound assessment) skills.
The HeartSoundVR application will feature realistic heart sounds, an interactive learning environment, and performance feedback, enabling students to develop their professional skills in a safe, controlled, and repeatable environment. The project aims to promote the integration of digital technologies into nursing education, enhance the quality of practical training, and strengthen students’ learning experiences. The interdisciplinary project team includes Assoc. Prof. Seyfullah Gökoğlu from the Faculty of Science, Asst. Prof. Necmiye Çömlekçi from the Faculty of Health Sciences, and Research Assistant Mert Tok from the Faculty of Engineering, Architecture and Design.
Emphasizing that the project will make significant contributions to improving the professional competencies of nursing students, BARÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya congratulated the project coordinator, Assoc. Prof. Hilal Uysal, and the research team, wishing them continued success.
