BARÜ Supports Damage Assessment Efforts in the Earthquake-Affected Region

Bartın University (BARÜ) is monitoring and supporting the damage assessment efforts carried out following the earthquake that recently occurred in Balıkesir.

A team formed from BARÜ’s technical staff has been contributing to the ongoing efforts after the earthquake in Balıkesir, which was also felt in surrounding provinces. Within this scope, Civil Engineer Neslihan Kurt and Civil Engineering Technician Ömer Delialioğlu from the Department of Construction and Technical Affairs travelled to Sındırgı district of Balıkesir to follow the damage assessment activities on site.

Working in coordination with the relevant institutions, the team is conducting technical evaluations regarding the damage status and structural safety of buildings affected by the earthquake. The work also includes reporting damaged structures, identifying potential post-earthquake risks, and examining earthquake-resistant construction practices.

BARÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya expressed his best wishes to all citizens affected by the earthquake and thanked the administrative staff working in the field for their dedicated efforts.
