BARÜ’s quality initiatives recognized as a “Good Practice Example” by THEQC

Bartın University’s (BARÜ) practices were selected as a “Good Practice Example” at the 2nd International Conference on Quality Assurance and Accreditation, organized by the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC).
Bartın University (BARÜ) participated in the 2nd International Conference on Quality Assurance and Accreditation, organized by the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC) under the theme “Quality Assurance Systems and Artificial Intelligence in the Digital Transformation Process.” Hosted by Yıldız Technical University (YTU), the event was attended by BARÜ Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Zafer Ceylan and Prof. Dr. Mehmet Cengiz Karaismailoğlu, former Quality Coordinator Prof. Dr. Çetin Semerci, Quality Coordinator Prof. Dr. Elif Karahan, and academics from various units of BARÜ.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, THEQC President Prof. Dr. Ümit Kocabıçak stated that approximately 65 percent of Türkiye’s 208 universities had been established within the last 25 years, emphasizing the critical role of quality assurance processes in improving the quality of these institutions.
At the conference, which addressed the future of quality assurance in higher education, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and innovative approaches to quality assurance, BARÜ’s practice titled “Evaluation and Rewarding of Academic Staff’s Innovative Teaching Performance” was selected as one of 12 “Good Practice Examples.” Presenting the practice, Prof. Dr. Çetin Semerci explained the process of systematically evaluating academic staff members’ innovative teaching activities, increasing the visibility of these efforts, and rewarding successful practices.
BARÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Akkaya commented on the recognition of the University’s quality assurance initiatives as a good practice example at an international conference, stating:
“As Bartın University, we prioritize enhancing the quality of our educational processes and strengthening the culture of quality assurance across all our units. We integrate developments in digital transformation and artificial intelligence into our quality assurance processes while supporting the innovative work of our academics. In line with this approach, I congratulate everyone who contributed to the practice selected as a good practice example by THEQC.”
