BARÜ to Host the Excitement of “BİLİMFEST BARTIN”

Bartın University (BARÜ) will bring together thousands of science and technology enthusiasts through “BİLİMFEST BARTIN,” a festival supported by TÜBİTAK and organized for the first time in Bartın.
The results of the “4007 Science Festivals Support Program,” carried out by TÜBİTAK’s Directorate of Science and Society with the aim of expanding science culture and science communication to wider segments of society and helping young people engage with technology through activities, have been announced. Within this framework, the “BİLİMFEST BARTIN” project prepared by Bartın University (BARÜ) and coordinated by Prof. Dr. Burçin Gökkurt Özdemir from the Faculty of Education was awarded support. The project team for the festival, which will be organized for the first time in Bartın, includes Dr. Özkan Avcı from BARÜ, Science Teacher Muhammed Ali Savaş from the Bartın Science and Art Center, and Ersin Özmen, European Union Coordinator of Karabük Municipality, as project experts.
BİLİMFEST BARTIN Will Bring Participants Together with Science for Three Days
“BİLİMFEST BARTIN” will be held on the Kutlubey Campus between October 15–17, 2026. The festival will feature activities in five categories: Natural Sciences, Engineering, Health and Technology-Oriented Applied Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities, and Agricultural Sciences. Through hands-on activities focused on science, technology, art, sports, and the environment, the festival is expected to host thousands of visitors from Bartın and neighboring provinces over the course of three days.
From Artificial Intelligence to Robotics Coding: A Wide Range of Activities
The festival will include numerous interdisciplinary activities such as artificial intelligence, augmented and virtual reality, STEAM applications, space and aviation, disaster awareness, sustainability, robotics coding, art, and sports. Participants will be offered interactive and hands-on scientific experiences by expert academics, researchers, teachers, and practitioner trainers.
Festival to Be Organized Through Inter-Institutional Cooperation
As part of the project, cooperation protocols were signed with the Bartın Governorship, Bartın Provincial Directorate of National Education, Bartın Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services, Bartın Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports, Bartın Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, and Bartın Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks. In addition, support letters received from various universities and institutions, particularly from the Western Black Sea Region, have strengthened the project’s regional cooperation network.
Through “BİLİMFEST BARTIN,” the organizers aim to reach 50,000 people of all ages through workshops designed for everyone from children to adults, strengthen university–society cooperation, and promote a sustainable science culture in Bartın.
